Women are the original culture-makers.

True culture-creating happens live, in-person, together.

True culture-creation cannot be zoomed-in, cc-ed, or hacked.

As women, we are the original weavers of culture, which means we need to be in more conversations that matter – in person, with each other, with our elders, with younger women – and publicly where our voices can be heard by all people.

We need to be having actual conversations, which is different from ‘posting about’ or even  ‘sharing’.

A conversation is a back & forth, not a declaration.

Conversations happen between bodies – including, but not limited to words that are spoken.

Conversations leave room to learn, to be curious, to not know – not only to allow our minds to be changed, but also not always even having ‘coming to a conclusion’ as the intention for engaging.

What if the conversation was the intention?  If simply connecting through sharing & listening & asking questions & laughing & learning was the end-goal in & of itself?

We are swimming in information & short on genuine conversations

Conversations about:
Sex
Money
Family
Power
Community
Birth
Aging
Purpose
Friendship
Loss
Motherhood
Death
Grieving

In order to fully honor the phases of life we go through as women – which are far more & far more nuanced than the version of Maiden/Mother/Crone that’s been offered – we need to sit with each other, in intergenerational spaces to both speak & listen – with our whole bodies.

Gathering for evenings of intention-setting around the moon cycles or movement & expression practices is important, but it’s not enough.

We need time.  Time to let the conversations weave where they will.  Time to be with each other over days & expand on conversations from two days ago.

Gathering online is needed, and allows us to meet all around the world – and it’s not enough.  Our bodies need time to feel each other’s bodies.  We need to share meals & breath.

The world is changing (as it always does), and we are the culture-weavers.  The degree to which we are having these conversations with each other determines how consciously we are weaving & how wide our webs will be.
